Even with all the gentrification; Bedstuy, Harlem, Crown Heights and Fort Greene are still majority black. And I don't see it changing ( lord willing) that dramatically in the next ten years. A lot of people running to the south are going to be in for a huge surprise with the lack of opportunities down there.

With that said, I do understand ops general point.

NYers lost they swag when they stopped hating! That's what NY was all about...hating on nikkas, calling them wack, then killing them with lyrics. I don't see that same fire from this generation of NY.

Instead of leaning and poppin wit what's out they supposed to be styling on us and calling us bammas while laughing the loudest!

You can see it on the boards here, nikkas from NY giving props to Gucci, Jeezy and some other cats. A real NYer rather stab their own eye out than admit them bammas can rap.

:dwillhuh:

Jeezy gets so much love on the east coast

Because they will never find their identity again.

Sure a few bytches fucc with Asap, and hood nikkas fucc with French, but thats about it. And neither one of these nikkas really NY rappers, they down south rappers who happen to live in NY while they were kids :mjpls:

The west coast fell off but came bacc, because they finally let go off that old ass g funk shyt, and found their new identity.

The reason why NYC will never come bacc, is because they're too busy tryna be cheap imitations of other coast. That may work for a lil bit, but eventually people are gonna want the real thing.

NYC will never find their identity because the city is too far gone from nikkas. Its not the same city it used to be. Some of the most historic hoods in history such as brooklyn and Harlem are becoming mostly white places. In another 10 years, the south bronx(birthplace) will most likely be the same way.

NYC wont be able to find a new identity in a city thats 80% hipsters, and 10% transexuals

What the fukk are you talking about. The south Bronx or any part of the Bronx for that matter show No signs of gentrifatication.

i don't see any valid points.

as far as gentrification goes & ny losing it's hoods. the bronx alone has like 1 and a half million people and 95% of them are in the hood, it's officially the poorest district in the entire country. the bronx alone has a larger talent pool to chose from than atlanta & la hoods combined.

the things you talking about might happen one day in NY in 50 years is already a reality in LA. Damn near all the LA hoods are outside of the city & those are being taken over by hispanics.

The black exodus argument is again stupid because NY still has like 10x as many black people as Atlanta. & with whatever exodus there is its nothing compared to LA, plus unlike LA black immigrants arrive here everyday.

Exactly...plus, what does the black population or percentage of the city that's "Hood" have to do with a city's output as far as hip hop talent? I mean wit that logic, a city like Detroit should be on top of the game as far as creativity in Hip-Hop...I mean, I know they got an underground n whatnot, but they're just as identity-less as any other city thats following trends. Again thats just an example tho. Ppl on here just love to hate on NY cuz they're jealous they ain't from here.

Maybe it's because I'm a little older (just turned 30) but I don't really give a fukk about NY rap being popular again as long as I still got shyt to listen to and there are artists out there that are still making music I can fukk with.

I don't think it's impossible though, we took that shyt back from the west when all that california gangsta rap was basically running the rap game, we can do it again.

Hmmm...I guess Puff really did kill NY hip hop when he killed all the hating. Had all of them jumping on some "I'm not a hater" shyt just so him and his wack ass bars could breathe?

NY gave props to very few rappers from other cities let alone other regions until Big died and everyone wanted everyone to get along. It was an honor very few rappers could get. Even when Snoop was his hottest....a NYer wouldn't say he had bars. They'd reluctantly say he made some good songs or some shyt like that.

It's the reason so many on this board still wage war with NY when they been forced to wave the white flag.

Before Big died...they may have listened to Scarface in the privacy of their own bedroom...but that nikka wasn't getting any public love!

Plus NY had this attitude that they were just plain better than everywhere else. EVERY WHERE was country except NY. NJ was bamma to some hardcore NYers! Philly, rappers from there weren't really respected by NY for a while.

The nation bombed them into submission and they need to take their power back.

Not to mention the media. Its still mainly in NY but you wouldn't know it. The radio stations and DJs dikkride the South disgustingly. Charlamagne not even from NY...in the day they would have made him cry. Actually, being from S Carolina they would have threw his app in the garbage!

so Guru and DJ Premier and the countless other people that contributed to the 90s NY hip hop scene not from the five boroughs should have been put in the garbage too?

They would give passes to certain people who repped NY HARD! You wouldn't know Premo was from Tx or Guru from Mass. They wore NY like a badge! Also they always had the story ready to validate how NY they were. Premo with the "I spent every summer in NY as a kid" and Guru with the "I spent more time in NY than Boston".

They dikkrode NY so hard the city gave them a pass since they were making NY style music and well.

Anyone on this site who was a grown man in the 90's and from NY, if they tell the truth can cosign what I say. If you weren't from NY...you were garbage for that reason alone!

It jus needs more cocky nikkas, more fly rappers, n less gangster rap and that weirdo lets take it back to the 90s shyt. All which will come in due time. Its jus that the cornballs n hipsters figured out how to use the internet to pop first. Over time the real nikkas will find out how to use the same blueprint :manny:

nikkas sayin NY fell off and not coming back...I'm just showing you how and why it happened. Showing those who don't know where their roots are.

NY is who waved the white flag! You had every other city in America calling you all haters and you finally caved. LOL first it was reluctantly, a lot of nikkas held out like K Slay. But eventually you all started listening to other regions artist and actually liking it!

*Yall booed Outkast at a awards show*

If you're under 30 you may not even remember how mighty and conceited your city was!

Being in the hood doesn't = larger talent pool of rappers. You're assuming everywhere you go there's a bunch of rappers spittin. It's not like that.

Lol it ain't coming back like that ever. The "real nikkas" can't adjust to the changing demographics.
