When the Washington Redskins took their cheerleading squad to Costa Rica in 2013 for a calendar photo shoot, the first cause for concern among the cheerleaders came when Redskins officials collected their passports upon arrival at the resort, depriving them of their official identification.

I'm surprised the NBA and NFL still implements cheerleaders. They are not critical to the business operations of any team. It's just future lawsuits waiting to happen at this point.

They're selling sex and the cheerleaders are more than willing to go along with it. Cheerleaders don't make any money. They're lucky to break $100 for a game.

My opinion may not be popular, but I will provide some insight into what I've seen and heard in my time working in sports. When I worked for a big 4 league, I spoke with a high ranking official and she said that a lot of young women come through these organizations hoping to find an athlete that they can latch onto. Mind you, this is a front office, white collar environment. Cheerleaders are doing the same.

Organizations have a policy that forbids fraternization for this reason.
