I agree with this. My late mother used to swear by Subway but it really didn't taste that different from me making a sandwich at home.
Also while the bread wasn't nasty when you ordered it didn't keep well.
I would buy a footlong and put half in the fridge for dinner and the bread in the few hours in the fridge would be

To be honest I have thought it was trash too but I've become a fan in the past month, their new paninni sandwiches are good as hell, the chicken onion teryakii is also very good, their regular turkey is trash but you just have to make them add extra everything and it's ok, also their cookies are some of the best I've ever eaten, plus the sandwich of the day deal is very good, you can get a meal for $5

I don't think they really have a niche anymore. If you want healthy food to go, there are FAR better options out there than Subway. People are better than ever now at actually counting macros, and with Subway you get small amounts of protein with an abundance of spray-tanned bread. The veggie toppings aren't even that high quality either. At the same time, if you aren't really looking for the healthiest option and just want a good hoagie, there's better options too. You could go to a Jersey Mike's, Jerry's, Quiznos, Firehouse, Jimmy Johns...heck even WAWA has better sandwiches. The Jared stuff didn't help either.
