50 had his problems but I think he still tried hard to make himself marketable despite having street songs and that gangsta image.

He still had crossover songs, tried to become a mogul/businessman, sold tons of products, and mainly messed with other rappers for sport rather than actual street beef.

Drill is pretty different because it's essentially street dudes who aren't even trying to have mass appeal or become superstars. It's a popular sound that's catering to a niche audience if that makes sense. The drill sound has been used in the mainstream in doses but the actual subgenre is full of gully street kids and some wannabe street suburban kids. There's virtually zero appeal to people outside of that.

Chief Keef played a bigger role in popularizing the type of drill or street music that's popping today.

For years, its been well known that mostly Women and kids buy records and go to concerts. Within the last few years, the industry figured out they could tap gay black males as a demo too. Add in some gossip and some drama and they hooked. Thats why these female rappers are being pushed so hard. Thats why they amplify the beef and drama. Its just another reality show. They about to run rap into the ground with this shyt
