Manga is also just way easier to read and follow. Because for the most part most manga is a singular story and they make actual volumes of the books so you know absolutely where to start. And also for the most part, Mangakas usually make different series after the end of one, or if they make a sequel series then it’s just that. Like if Naruto and Tokyo Ghoul were comics then in addition to Re and Boruto you’d have like 50 other different versions, which to me just ruins the character because at that point they aren’t even truly relatable and thenselves.

And lastly I think non-popular mangas are wayyyyy waaaaaayyyy more interesting than most underground, non mainstream, whatever you’d call it comics.

I also think there’s something special about them making it in black and white too, it’s more pleasing on the eyes imo.

Villa Straylight.
one thing to appreciate (when it goes right) about the manga industry is that their editors have real power to veto the author on something stupid.

and those guys will admit it later down the line. attack on titan/dbz/naruto all benefited from an editor going :camby: to a bad idea

probably too lax in the comic industry because they feel they can retcon stuff.
editors have more power than most writers in comics.

Also Shounen is just better than most super hero comics too. That’s just my opinion tho, the art work of the fighting just captivates me much more.

As I grew older I began hating the same ol Shounen formula, there's a only a few that I can stomach now, however I agree shounen is way better than superhero comics(DC, Marvel and others)

Yeah same that’s why I usually stick to slice of life/romance and ecchi/comedy, then shyts are literally sitcoms in a book

But every now and then a shounen like
Kimetsu no Yaiba reals me in (also Ushio to Tora is a good read if you haven’t heard of it

I never really read comics like that. I grew up on the toonami anime shows of DBZ,YYH, OP etc. And when I got computer I came across the whole world of their manga counterparts and read the BIG 3 mangas because I was growing up on them and heard their further ahead
nowadays I have no interest in manga except the two series I follow.(one piece and AOT,)

Im sure thats how many people my age grew up, I have friends who are like this. Rarely read a comic but grew up watching DBZ, Naruto etc and eventually got access to a computer and likely either watch the anime in Sub, or read the manga.

hence the numerous amount of people in this age who are more connected to manga(part of the reason for big sales) and anime, than comics(low sales)

im not a big fan of either. Im more of a Book person. But if a good graphic novel can interest me I'll read it

Yeah I finished watching Ushio To Tora back in 2016 I think? Good show. The most bearable shounen that I mess with is HXH, World Trigger, Death Note, Jojo before it became a seinen, Code Geass, some of the Gundam franchises(Fave Thunderbolt and Blood Orphans) and a few others that I forgot about.

Both industries have fundamental issues.

Comic books:
- can never get a complete story because the current writer doesnt own the character or the universe, all of their changes might be undone.

-massive delays in between arcs

-so much unrelated background information is required for certain stories

Manga:
- inhuman workload/pace, often negatively impacts the end of a story

- usually less lucrative than comics so writers are forced to change their stories to follow what publishers/editors want, sometimes elongating them past a reasonable end

I personally like manga more just because i know that what im wont be completely retconned by another writer 10 years after the fact. I would rather have a complete story
All of these critiques are dead on.
