I still like TFA tbh....it really seemed like they were setting something up that was going to become big and I personally loved the new hope parallel's and john williams score. then it just went NO WHERE in the subsequent movies.

It had the same setup that ANH had.

Death Star destroyed and main protagonist (Luke/Rey) going off to meet Jedi Master (Yoda/Luke).

It went nowhere because the setup was a direct copy of ANH. Rian Johnson could had follow up with Luke training Rey to be a Jedi Master (ala ESB Yoda training Luke to be a Jedi Master) or subvert expectation.

People really need to realize that TFA really fukked over its sequels.

The most insulting thing for me was the way they disrespected Luke and the rest of the OG heroes.

Luke, Han, and Leia never got a proper reunion, and now they never will (with the original actors). Ever. Biggest wasted opportunity in film history.

All three of them died miserable, broken, and alone, all of their accomplishments having been rendered utterly meaningless on every conceivable level. All of their hard fought victories came to nothing in the end.

C3PO and R2D2 got their shine stolen by BB8... the list goes on.
