I expect at least a GFinals appearance. We have the most talented young roster in the west. And Morey not done making moves

Once a coward always a coward :pacspit:

But :salute: you Rocket fans for being part of the cancellation of the Lakeshow :blessed:

Hopefully, Dwightmare won't cause Houston to have a problem, though :troll:

I'm liking how the team is being set up ya'll.

Lin / Beverly / Canaan
Harden / Cisco / Anderson
Parsons / Cisco / Casspi
Dmo / Jones / Smith
Dwightmare / Asik / Smith

I think we just have one roster spot left and the room exception to work with. I know we're targeting Corey Brewer but I won't be surprised to see him take more money elsewhere. I've seen Anthony Morrow and Jermaine O'Neal's names tossed around also. I'm definitely hoping for Brewer though for his defense and his slashing ability would bring another style to the team. If not him then another shooter. I also wouldn't be surprised to see us waive Anderson and sign another player. The roster as it stands can compete although I think most agree we still need have some work to do. We're much more versatile now and can match up with what most teams will throw at us.

How are we feeling about keeping Asik? Personally I like the idea of having an elite rim protector on the court at all times. I'm hoping Asik can be talked into being satisfied with around 25 minutes. By staggering the two centers minutes they would likely only be on the court at the same time for 10 minutes or less. Fwiw, local reporters are saying the Asik trade demands are false. I'm not opposed by any means to trading Asik for a power forward but I think it's wise to get proper value and I'm not convinced we can get that now as opposed to at the deadline. While I understand NO wanting more in return for Ryan Anderson because of how his loss would impact them I don't think swapping him for Asik is an even trade on the Rockets' end.

I'ma wrap this up because this is getting long but did anyone catch the summer league game? Greg Smith was pretty disappointing. Hopefully he's just not a morning person... Canaan being out for summer league with a bum ankle is a letdown too. Terrence was a standout as expected. Idk who is going to end up being better out of him or Dmo but one of them needs to step up this year.

financially it just doesn't make that much sense to pay that much money to asik to be a backup for the rest of his contract and i'm not a fan of playing him wand dwight at the same time.

this team really needs a solid power forward for the future. whether morey goes out and gets one or they develop the ones we have, somethings gotta happen.

p.s.

greg smith is trash.

I agree with you but I do concede that we might be wrong in our thinking. There's a pdf of some analytical study called the Dwight Howard effect or something that gets into the topic of defense being undervalued and how we still don't have all of the proper tools to correctly measure the impact of elite defenders. I think that's reflected in the salaries given out to "instant offense 6th man" types as opposed to defensive specialists. Is it better for us to pay 8.4 for guy to give us 12-14 pts and a couple assists/rebounds here and there or is it better to have a rim deterrent and a guy that can get a double double in 25 minutes? I don't know the answer and these are the types of issues I just let Morey do his thing with. :myman:

I'ma find the study and post it here. It's pretty damn interesting...
