This is wild, because this was originally starring Terry Crews, who made more sense in this role.

Terry Crews & Ludacris To Topline Indie Drama ‘John Henry’

Nah, thats a different premise all together:ufdup:

Described as a modern retelling of the folklore, the plot, co-written by Forbes and Doug Skinner, follows John Henry (Crews), a man who has traded violence for a peaceful life in South Los Angeles. But when he meets two immigrant kids running from the leader of his former gang (Bridges), Henry must decide whether to revisit his troubled past in order to give them a future.

:jbhmm:
The rocks movie sounds more like..

Basically they are taking a bunch of fictional folk heros from around the world and throwing them all in one big adventure.

This is another reason I laugh at folks over the casting. John Henry is public domain, if someone else wants to make a john Henry movie they are free to do so. Just like this one with terry cruse, though given that premise I have no clue how that could be a modern retelling.

Respect :salute: that "bedwench/buck" shyt it's beyond me :dead: I've never heard it outside of here and Tariq Nasheed, and I had expect a muhfukka to peel out on a horse and trolley or seal their envelope with candle wax when I see it. This is the last role The Rock should ever take. The shyt has over a century of cultural context and imagery to back it. Some shyt you just don't do.

No, you're putting words in my mouth and you're obviously triggered by the criticism he's receiving. The fukk is so hard to understand about this? :gucci: Harry Belafonte is considered black, but you wouldn't go and cast the side that played Omar in The Wire to be him, would you??? Who John Henry is and how he's portrayed has always been significant to African American folklore
Chadwick Boseman was Thurgood Marshall and no one took issue with this so try again...

Billy Brown (aka Nate from How to get away with murder) or Winston Duke (aka Mbaku from Black Panther) would be good choices.

But they do it alot with black female roles. Black family shows with a black dad and a black son but the mom and daughter are light skinned or straight up mixed with green eyes and wavy/curly hair. Its yall turn now.

Um no :comeon:

I support the rock and the movie *he put up his own funds to make* ...
  1. John Henry is a fictional African American character not described as having a set skin tone.
  2. How he was previously drawn is irrelevant *See: 1*
  3. John Henry is in public domain and any AA is free to depict him
  4. The little bit of description that is given of John Henry fits the rock to a T
  5. Terry crews is set to play him in a separate movie as well *See: 3*
  6. Comparative example, Nina Simone was a real person who's looks were also integral to her life & depiction *See: 1*
  7. Ain't no black dudes giving a damn about the rock playing John Henry, short of maybe super militant types
  8. Twitter is not reality, get out the house and talk to real people ...not traumatized people online looking for a support group
  9. How yall gone complain about him "not accepting his black side" then complain when he put up *his own money* to celebrate it
  10. The Rock said his dads people migrated from the U.S. to Canada back in the day *(just like northerners migrated from the south)*
  11. Green mile era Micheal Clark Duncan would be perfect !!!

Some of yall are the most miserable folks i've seen and complain about everything. Who hurt yall?!
*Shakes Damn dark skinned head!*
