This looks like it got watered down. 
Man, if they were to do a rougelike, all they needed was a World Tour mode in NBA Street. Maybe shake up requirements depending on the locations to keep the progression a little different depending on the spots, etc.
Like what if you had a secret midget island in the Atlantic Ocean where Muggsy Bogues was the king and he'd watch from the side like Shao Khan. You had the court on the shores of the island with palm trees as part of the hoop, and you were playing 6v3 because the little dudes had to stack on each other's shoulders to make the height work, and since there's double the arms could get fouled harder due to the extra pushing as a difficulty mechanic, and they steal better.
All that creativity waiting for them but they opt for stiff ass animations in the NBA license and no midgets.
