Until Lamar wins a championship this will keep happening. He always has MVP level regular seasons and has those playoff flame outs.

He'll still get the Geno/Baker type deal, which he should have gotten all along even with his performance this season.

He still gets paid next year and if he doesn't meet those expectations, the next team can easily move off of him. If he does, then he keeps getting paid.
