Not Technically a "Doctor"
Its the same thing as having a baseball bat bat by the door, just more effective.
:patrice:What are the stats on suicide and baseball bat ownership?

Why do you care what people do in the privacy of their own homes in order to protect their own families and property?
Do they make bullets that never go stray and hit children?:jbhmm:

Wait, do they make bulletproof kids now?:gladbron:

What are the stats on legal guns and stray bullets :patrice:

Do you get a free pass if you hit someone with a stray bullet? :patrice:

I'll answer the second question for you. You go to jail for murder.

We may just be interpreting this differently, but if being in a militia weren't the point of bearing arms I don't see why they should have mentioned it. Why bring it up if it's not related?

I think citizens have the right to bear arms... as part of being in "well regulated militias" to keep the govt in check. That makes a ton of sense in the context of when the BoR was written.
I don't think it's really a matter of interpretation as it is understanding.
THE RIGHT invoked in the 2nd amendment isn't defined in the second amendment. The second amendment doesn't specifically say, people have the right to own guns. It says the government shall not infringe on THE RIGHT of people to bare arms. Meaning this. People have a right to arms and the government can't infringe on that right.

Again, the second amendment doesn't GIVE people anything, it limits the government from infringing on that which is a natural right, the right to defend ones self. The second amendment, if it does anything, states that there is need for well regulated state militias.

That's Trump level delusion breh.

U.S. Constitution - Article I, Section 8
Clause 15:

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

pretty sure that has more to do with how congress can use a militia. I might be mistaken but the reason for the second amendment was to provide and additional potential check of Federal power. But, given that there were going to be groups (militias) of armed, well regulated men in each state they were to be at the disposal of the federal government if need be.

And yet it doesn't mention the idea of personal self defense at all, it mentions militias and the security of the "state":

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

How do people form militias if guns are banned?

When was the last time one of your gun owning friends made you feel threatened by their guns?
Why do you care what people do in the privacy of their own homes in order to protect their own families and property?
Would you tell a person that keeps a baseball bat by the door that its pointless and they should let the burglary happen and hope the police can sort it out later?

You would almost have a point here if those rights didn't extend beyond the home. Nice try tho :scumbag:

You're absolutely right that crime rates have dropped and are continuing to drop. But guess what? Gun violence has followed the same downward trajectory.....
And like I said, that downward trajectory has NOTHING to do with gun ownership.

And IMO its highly disingenuous to say that anyone that can afford a gun and a CCP can afford to live in a nice neighborhood. I don't think it quite works like that. A $300 gun and a $100 CCP doesn't mean you can afford a 500k home in a gated community.
If someone has $400-500 laying around, plus whatever $$$ it takes for training and upkeep of that permit, they are better off than most Americans. The people I know who own guns legally definitely fit that description.

I'd hate to be you. You sound like a paranoid werido. Keep your guns to protect your family. You will probably never need it but you'll be the lame scared all night with all these guns in your house. Those weird thoughts on your mind that someone wants to steal the worthless shyt in your home will make your life worse then the so called people coming to get your so called family and shytty goods. :mjlol:

I don't get why people think legal gun owners think of their weapons 24/7. Like I've said numerous times, theres a gun in the house and while I hope to never use it, its there in case of a worst case scenario. Pretty sure you guys are the ones irrationally obsessed with guns and gun ownership. Pretty much the only times I've even thought about my guns in the past year are when I was planning on going to the range or when one of the 2034908 anti-gun threads on the Coli popped up but hey do you and keep thinking every gun person is a paranoid weirdo.
