The Sega Dreamcast was by far the most innovative console ever created

Weren’t they the first one for multiplayer online gaming. Think the game was phantasy star

Back then it wasn’t even heard of
The first online game was Chu-Chu Rocket
No EA support was a big reason as to why it failed, but it gave us 2K Sports :wow:

Half Life and Max Payne being cancelled was pretty much it for the console as far as 3rd party AAA titles were concerned. Too damn bad because it was ahead of it's time.

People were selling brand new Dreamcast games for $5 near the end :wow:
I don't buy that EA shyt, they might have put that out because EA wanted no parts of 2K (facts) Sega Sports had NCAA sports too :mjpls: Sega would have been fine without James pond :yeshrug:

I never owned one, but a friend did and he was always raving about it. A lot of old school gamers say it's the best console ever. A lot of the games still look good and haven't aged terribly like most PS2 games have; some of those games are eye sores these days.

It's crazy that despite being innovative and superior to other consoles that it was such a failure that it caused Sega to leave consoles behind. Still, I wasn't interested in owning one. I had the N64 at the time and would get a PS2 when that came out. Sega was always trying to do too much and half-assing it (Sega CD, 32X, Saturn) and I lost all faith in them despite having chosen the Genesis over the SNES during the 16-bit wars.

Anyone ever watch the retro gaming channel Metal Jesus Rocks?

Man I wanted a Dreamcast so bad, but I’ve got a real strong power of foresight cause I remember being like six and thinking “this shyt is amazing but.......it’s 02 and I’m not seeing any new games at all......wait it’s only like 3 consoles in the toys”r”us..... fukk I’m not asking for this for Xmas this shyt not gonna last by next year”
Kingdom hearts came out that year and I was stuck on play station, to be honest I think the thing that really killed the dream cast is that their exclusives didn’t stand out quite hard enough, cause as good as that system was it had a heavy underground feel playing it, like you know one out of like 10 people in your group that had it. The ps2 just had way more memorable first party games by its second year and its advertisement was out of this fukking world (ratchet and clank and jak and daxter were the goat at this)

I had more fun with the Dreamcast than the PS2.

Street Fighter 3 was on the DC 4 years before PS2. Project Justice was great. Marvel VS Capcom 2. PSO, Jet Set Radio. Virtual Tennis. Tony Hawk 2. Typing of the Dead. Tokyo Xtreme Racer.

Sega was the best developer for a couple of years. I still need to play Skies of Arcadia. I think my DC still works and I have a VGA adapter still.

A great final effort from Sega but past mistakes cost them their future in the console space.

Unfortunately I've never owned one but I didnt end up playing some of the games that released on other systems like Sonic Adventure 2, Crazy Taxi, Ikaruga, Jet Set Radio, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Street Fighter 3 Third Strike.

I do remember one of my friends saying it was piss easy to bootleg games on there, had a CD case full of downloaded DC games.

Breh, for a 6 y/o you had one hell of a insight foresight for marketing.

Most 6 y/os are crying over consoles, but you...you had an epiphany about the dc based on how many console systems where being sold.

I believe it tho. Because I wanted a Saturn at the beginning of the 32 bit war but something said to hold off. When Sega released the Saturn early but there were no games on it I was like :camby:at 11 years old

Copped that PS1 with Resident Evil instead :blessed:

To me this was the most impressive jump I've ever seen in video games. Was completely blown away the first time I saw nfl 2k. That said I was very disappointed that MLB 2K was complete trash and the WWF kinda sucked too
one of the few flaws in the dreamcast gaming library - no good or great wrestling game
it pretty much had everything else: great arcade ports, great rpgs, great platformers, good fps, great racing games, great fighting games, great innovative titles
:mjcry:it truly is/was one of a kind!!

I don't know why they thought releasing Attitude & porting Royal Rumble was a good idea, but outside of that the Dreamcast is one of my all time favorite systems. Honestly I have yet to be let down by a Sega system and the Saturn just like the Dreamcast was ahead of its time.
