Bruh, you was 6 Yrs old. You literally had no idea what you was talking then or nowMan I wanted a Dreamcast so bad, but I’ve got a real strong power of foresight cause I remember being like six and thinking “this shyt is amazing but.......it’s 02 and I’m not seeing any new games at all......wait it’s only like 3 consoles in the toys”r”us..... fukk I’m not asking for this for Xmas this shyt not gonna last by next year”
Kingdom hearts came out that year and I was stuck on play station, to be honest I think the thing that really killed the dream cast is that their exclusives didn’t stand out quite hard enough, cause as good as that system was it had a heavy underground feel playing it, like you know one out of like 10 people in your group that had it. The ps2 just had way more memorable first party games by its second year and its advertisement was out of this fukking world (ratchet and clank and jak and daxter were the goat at this)
The "GD-Rom" predated the CD Rom. Had video and audio capabilities like CD but couldn't hold as much data and was easier to bootleg. BLEEM or BLEAM was the name of the original bootleg disc. All that you needed to do was burn BLEAM onto a disc, put it in your DC and then pop in a burnt game and it would play. No "mod" needed. A game called Red dog was the shyt (first game I bootlegged myself)This is why it failed. My friend had a CD binder filled with basically every Dreamcast game.![]()
Skies of arcadia will look and play great today. The Sega version was deemed too hard by girly men so the GameCube version had an easier difficulty. Play that knowing it's the best you'll probably ever playI had more fun with the Dreamcast than the PS2.
Street Fighter 3 was on the DC 4 years before PS2. Project Justice was great. Marvel VS Capcom 2. PSO, Jet Set Radio. Virtual Tennis. Tony Hawk 2. Typing of the Dead. Tokyo Xtreme Racer.
Sega was the best developer for a couple of years. I still need to play Skies of Arcadia. I think my DC still works and I have a VGA adapter still.
People didn't really talk about sales til the ps2 era. 16bit era, nobody was going "Nintendo sold x-million more consoles than genesis" it was either you rocked with one or the other. If sports was your #1 you had genesis, EA sports oddly was never GREAT except on SegaBreh, for a 6 y/o you had one hell of ainsightforesight for marketing.
Most 6 y/os are crying over consoles, but you...you had an epiphany about the dc based on how many console systems where being sold.
The Saturn and Dreamcast released with no marketing, stumbled upon both at gaming stores upon release (SS at software etc and DC at toys r us) The issue with Saturn that stopped Everybody was the fact the system costed $499.99 in America and this was at a time when systems would launch at $199-$250 range so when I saw that price I was like "maybe when I become an adultI believe it tho. Because I wanted a Saturn at the beginning of the 32 bit war but something said to hold off. When Sega released the Saturn early but there were no games on it I was likeat 11 years old
Copped that PS1 with Resident Evil instead![]()
the saturn had online as well.
It was Dreamcast only then was later ported to ps2/Xbox/GameCubeFirst time I played Sonic Adventure demo, powerstone, and Soul Calibur my mind was blown.
Didn't ready 2 rumble premiere on DC as well?

The Saturn was coming with free games by the time I wanted it or a PlayStation that had Resident Evil which I was dying to play
Why are they giving free games away, nobody must want this
PlayStation was the right move![]()
Utopia boot discBleem! was the name of the PSX emulator software for PC. The boot disc for DC was called Utopia boot disc which was named after the group that released it. Shortly after, all DC ISO's were released pre-patched with the boot partition so you didn't even need the boot disc. Just burn the image of the game and away you went.. free game.
Dreamcast was my favourite console ever. I remember importing Jet Set Radio! from Japan I was so desperate to play it... couldn't even speak Japanese.
If they ever released a Dreamcast mini all I ask is they throw in a redesigned controller, more like the Xbox controller. Those triggers and analogue stick in this day and age
If they did that I'd probably end up playing a DC mini more than current gen
Bleem! - Wikipedia! However, they managed to release individual Bleemcast! bootdiscs for three popular games: Gran Turismo 2, Tekken 3, and Metal Gear Solid. WWF SmackDown! was also being planned for a release, but was not completed, whilst a couple of screenshots of Final Fantasy IX were surfacing during this time, but was never announced as a planned release.[3]As promised from the beginning, the games ran in a 640x480 resolution, as opposed to the PS1's 320x240 resolution, and featured anti-aliasing and bilinear filtering. This drastically improved the games' graphics, but also brought out some graphical imperfections that were originally hidden in the lower resolution
Lots of systems had adaptors going back to the 16bit era, I'm doubting the American version of the Saturn had a network adaptor built in because internet speeds was AOL at the time. Seganet which launched with the Dreamcast was barely fast enough. I could be wrong![]()
GOAT console :mjhandcry: so ahead of its time, so much fun, so groundbreaking :mjhandcry:
fukk Sony for cutting its life short![]()
You're moving goalposts now buddyseganet launches with the saturn and was reworked with the dreamcast. and although it didnt launch with online support, the difference between saturn link and things like the previous xband is that it had games specifically made for online play rather than tricking the system into thinking there was a second person in the room
Yes, making a system More powerful and capable than the ps1 for such a low price was insaneNah thank SEGA for their years of dumbass business decisions.
Multi current gen consoles
Multi dev consoles and cycles
Japan’s enormous ego to SEGA USA
The closing of all their Internal R&D teams (RIP Smilebit)
Dont forget easily bootlegable GD-ROMS as well.
Sega dug their own grave, Sony just planted the flowers.
You're moving goalposts now buddy
Seganet didn't come to America until the Dreamcast hitand like I said, didn't come with a built in adaptor so...
