Decent... I rarely give people what they ask for... I even get employee discounts most of the time at the register for department stores.

When you have a great rep built up you get what you want regardless. For instance, if you're known for providing the best service above and beyond the rest you don't have to look around for cooperation, it comes to you overwhelmingly. The problem comes in choosing whose first in line to get your sought after services.

If the TV cost 1100, and you only have 900. Ask for it for 700. They'll say no. And try to lowball you somewhere in the middle. It's as simple as that.

What if I want both?
I'm pretty good at negotiating but only face to face. No way I can do it over the computer, or even the phone. I have found it's much harder to say no to someone's face. I used to not be able to say no to someone, but as I've gotten older I've gotten much better. Really the bread and butter is making it seem like it's beneficial to them. Find out what motivates them and harp on it. Simple once you get the hang of it...
And if you're selling something and say you want $100. Tell them you want $120. Then let THEM talk you down. They'll think they're getting a bargain, and you get what you want. Everybody wins.
