Season 3 of the Sopranos really crystalizes how much of scumbags these gangsters are and how big of hypocrites Carmela and the other women are. Tony and Ralphie green lit Jackie Jr. to get killed. And lie to Jackie's mother, Meadow and everyone that he got killed selling drugs in the projects.

Meadow was the only one without blinders on who knew Tony's mob family had to have something to do with the murder.

Carmela trying to talk down on Meadow, saying she looking for an "Italian Boogie Man" to blame for Jackie Jr's murder

That's true, but let's not pretend that the kid was a saint. He tried to rob a game, murdered an associate, and landed shots on made men. He signed his own death warrant with that act of stupidity.

Nobody's getting away with that. If it was another made guy who did it without sanction, he'd have "gone into the Witness Protection Program."

Jackie Jr. had to go. Tony tried to keep him straight but he wanted to be gangster. There was no way Tony or Ralph could give him a pass after killing Sunshine, and shooting at a room full of made guys. Ralph would’ve lost all respect of his crew and the rest of the family. Far as them comforting Rosalie, that’s how these guys operate.

That’s what always bothered me about Phil and how he took his brother being killed. He killed Angelo, a father and grandfather without a second thought. His brother got killed because of it, once Tony B was dead the score was settled.
