This isn't solely applicable to the South. Anywhere you live that's outside of a city is bound to be boring IMO. Living in a small town up north isn't going to be much better.

This was what I was going to say. Like small towns in fukking Oregon/Wash/Cali or Ohio/Indiana/Penn are any better. Small town is a small town just depends how far you are from a major city.
