If you're in the street and care more about POWER than money, you're already figuring out how to turn that drug money into stocks, bonds, and other legal assets that generate wealth.

Eventually you're known as a 'local philanthropist' you're also considered a 'financier and patron of the arts' because you've helped put local athletes and musicians on and given a business loan to someone opening up a shop.

Eventually you're now in Washington. The Kennedys started out as bootleggers and white washed(don't ask me how) that history to become American royalty and spread their political will at the highest corridors of power.
