The Staggeringly High Rate of White on White Murder

Why oh why is no one commenting on the insanely high rate of of white on white murder? Bill O'Reilly? Joe Klein, of Time magazine, who devotes his whole column to write this week on black on black murder, in response to Ferguson? Anybody? Because bringing up the canard of black on black crime whenever a white man kills a black man is just how the right-wing—and apparently the mainstream—media rolls.

Note to smug white racists: Take a look at the real numbers. According to the FBI's most recent homicide statistics, Vox.com reports, "the United States is in the wake of an epidemic of white-on-white crime. Back in 2011, the most recent year for which data is available, a staggering 83 percent of white murder victims were killed by fellow Caucasians.

This is not to say that white people are inherently prone to violence. Most whites, obviously, manage to get through life without murdering anyone. And there are many countries full of white people — Norway, Iceland, France, Denmark, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom — where white people murder each other at a much lower rate than you see here in the United States. On the other hand, although people often see criminal behavior as a symptom of poverty, the quantity of murder committed by white people specifically in the United States casts some doubt on this. Per capita GDP is considerably higher here than in France — and the white population in America is considerably richer than the national average — and yet we have more white murderers.

Another disturbing and revelatory stat via Vox: 36 percent of those killed by whites are women, a far higher percentage than what you see with murderers who are black.

These alarming, and readily available, numbers seem to merit some more attention. Wonder why they're not getting any.

It's striking that President Obama, who's frequently found time to comment on the height of black men's waistlines, seems oblivious to this torrent of white killing. We hear something like this all the time, and thats good to know because Black Americans should be (and are) taking the steps towards lowering this number. But why is there little to no mention of the dominant society killing each other at such a high percentage; especially when white supremacists, and c00ns keep using "black on black crime" and Chicago as their go to deflection move? At least poor Black Americans can link these frightening stats to economic troubles, prison system+ drug laws, poor education, mental health (which seems to be looked over), media brainwashing, diet, and putting too much trust and reliance on a government that gives no fukks about em, and whitewashed religions that teach you to worship their image....

Its not always about the numbers, its also about how they are used to paint specific peoples in a certain light, and to deflect from their own dirty laundry.

I advise you to take another look at that statistic. Perhaps I'll reiterate it; 83% OF WHITES ARE KILLED BY OTHER WHITES.
1.) believe it or not most whites still tend to live amongst each other ,as do blacks.
2.) individuals of almost every racial group are likely to be experience violence at the hand of another member of that same group

So considering the facts the percentage of whites killing each other isn't surprising. I could argue that 90% black murders victims being killed by other blacks isn't all the relevant either. What is relevant is the fact that blacks kill each other AT HIGHER RATE THAN ANY GROUP IN THIS NATION. And for a group whose population hovers around 12-13%, them making up half the murder victims in this country is quite troubling. It should be treated as an epidemic and the fact the black community have not made greater strides in addressing the issue is very tragic. In fact, we more likely to see more energy put forth to perpetuate and celebrate this violence than we are to see individuals expressing an outcry about it. Sooner or later our realities are going to have to catch up with us. I believe it is already. No one takes us serious (as they should) when we express outrage when one of us is wrongfully killed by a non-black. And its because of the level of violence that persists within our communities.

so now this is a gun control issue? Guns have been around for decades and they'll be around for years to come. And I would think most of the murders are perpetrated by individuals who are even allowed to own or legally buy a gun anyway.

How do you "end" up there by racist whites of old and today? I'm not sure I am understanding this. Are people born in the hood born without a brain to make decisions to improve their lives and themselves? You could make the case that the educational system in these neighborhoods aren't up to par with schools in other areas of the rest of the nation. However, how do you explain the poor immigrant families who live in these same communities and excel in their education.

I went to a very fukked up school (comparatively) and it was always the immigrants who remained at the top of their class in academic achievement. Education is the great equalizer in determining the outlook of one's social/economic status. But the quality of that education isn't the ultimatum if one succeeds or not. Our worst schools here are dream come true in comparison to schools in other parts of the world.

The main factor in what drives people to succeed is their culture. And a certain culture...or mentality exists in these communities that keeps people impoverished. And children aren't at fought with the culture their brought up in. So lets make it clear, I'm not critiquing the poor, I'm critiquing the culture and mindset that exists amongst the poor. And this culture has become generational. Its is the same culture that have allowed so many of us to turn a blind eye to the level decadence and violence that exists in our communities.

How do you end up there?

By simply being brought in as slaves, segregated when freed and then finally integrated into the society with the white race having a head start.

Thats how we end up in the poor areas.

How do we stay there?

By having our success limited by racist whites in power who do everything they can to make sure our economic growth stays low.

Great your an exception yet that has nothing to do with what racist whites are doing as a whole to make sure African Americans can never be their equal in this country. A few exceptions dont mean shyt to the many who fall thanks to the actions of racist whites.

Of course the poor culture has been generational because we have been kept there for so long by racist whites.

Trying to get people to pretend everything is great in poor land doesnt do shyt because a shyt hole is still a shyt hole no matter how much you pretend its something else.

What we will need to fix this crime issue is less black people in poor areas. To do that we tried getting reparations yet the powers here said no so now we must look for slower means of improvement yet with racist whites making moves as we speak it isnt getting much progress.

That is true but this thread is about white people killing white people. Which made me bring up the point of us to not pin it on race but the fact that people are killing people for senseless reasons. Whether it's a white man slaughtering his white wife, or a black man killing his black neighbor.. or white police officer killing a black man.

At the end of the day people are deranged. It's sick and it's sad. That's all. I don't see it changing at all
