There was more spectacle to the prequels but they were so boring lifeless and dull. Just no fun or joy at all. But the characters in this or just on another level than the prequels . Natalie Portman even said she couldn't land a role for a while after them and Hayden Christensen isn't doing shyt. This movie is going to birth a few stars.

It's definitely better than Phantom Menace (although the lightsaber fight in Menace >).

Would say it's on the level of Clones, definitely inferior to Sith.

If George would've written this movie people would hate on a lot of the shyt (especially the rehash of OG Star Wars ideas).

It's not that TFA is bad, the visuals and acting is amazing. The problem is the story line is basic at best. And as stated b4 is just a rehash of previous story lines. So if your a true star wars fan you love fresh new story lines and this movie didn't provide much in terms of that.

The prequels as bad as the acting was, the story lines were all fresh ideas. And provided unique back stories to multiple characters.
