FYI, the start menu doesn't come back in this update. It's coming later.

About Damn time, coudn't stand the stand the current search engine only looking for programs and note files like W7. Too bad they're like congress and sneaked in metro apps with the start menu.

That's one hell of an if...

None of the PCs in our environment have touchscreens (most of our laptops are Dell Latitute E6410s) and we don't have the budget to change that, so there's no way we're fukking with Windows 8.

IMO Microsoft should've done different versions of Windows 8 for users with touchscreens and those without.
Yeah, I'm speaking for Win 8 as it is now. After the Spring update Win 8 becomes more PC friendly. And after the start menu returns in 8.2 there is absolutely no reason to complain after that. So you guys shouldn't have a problem.

Some analysts are saying that combining a mobile and desktop OS was the mistake. I don't feel that it was. I think the mistake was not allowing the OS to differentiate between the two. When you have a tablet the OS should still use the same version of Windows but put touch friendly features in front of you. If you are on a desktop, or if you have a hybrid type laptop/tablet and you switch back to "PC/Let's get some work done" mode, then it should tailor itself to behave how you would expect an OS to behave when using a mouse and keyboard. As it stood until some of the updates, it didn't make that distinction. It simply behaved in a one style fits all manner and that didn't work. Clearly some people just accepted and got used to it, but that doesn't make it right and that doesn't mean what they did works. It just speaks moreso to human nature. MS did the right thing to come to their senses.
