Great post. I highlighted the best parts from the article.

The passive methods of #PWS have been ingrained in almost every facet of American society to such a point that speaking about it’s existence seems mythical. It’s not a unicorn though. In fact, bringing it up causes people of all colors to feel discomfort because Black Americans have become accustomed to appeasing the comfort levels of white fragility. As a result, certain black folks think about white reactions first before doing any action. This subservience illustrates the passive ‘slow poison’ effect of polite white supremacy that still effects many Black Americans until this day.

Law enforcement’s reliance on the term ‘resisting arrest’ incarcerates many blacks who have claimed to do no such thing. As a matter of fact, it’s a simple fact that the human body bends in certain ways at certain joints. So, when an arm is twisted by surprise at specific angles by a burly officer (or several), any person’s involuntary muscular reaction is to correct the pain they’re feeling. This is called ‘resisting’. What regular person can lie perfectly still as their arm is being broken? Who can pretend to not be in pain?

When white crimes are actually acknowledged there are double-standards in the terminology. The same action committed by whites versus those committed by blacks are somehow perceived as less threatening if there is a white aggressor. According to Polite White Supremacy, screwdrivers become ‘burglary tools’ depending on the color of the person holding them. A group of black people gathering is thus deemed a ‘gang’ and a group of whites gathering is…a group of whites gathering. Words such as ‘Lawlessness’, ‘looting’, ‘criminal’ and ‘thug’ often accompany the most peaceful protests by Black Americans long before agent provocateurs can influence a crowd towards violence.

What do media outlets call white rioters who torch property after their team wins or loses? ‘Revelers’. Basically, ‘revelers’ means they’re white and just having some wild fun. The perception is that revelers are white and aren’t scary like those black ‘rioters’ who did just as much property damage, though for different reasons.

There’s also the less of physical control and less lethal assaults placed upon the bodies of unarmed white aggressors. In a nutshell, it’s important to look at what’s not being done when whites pose a threat.

What did the police not do to the white bikers who got into a brawl that killed nine people? What did the police not do to Dylan Roof or TJ Lane when they were arrested? Polite White Supremacy makes it seem safer to be a white serial killer rather than a black man or woman speaking their American rights to an officer of the law.

White aggressors who do the same actions (or far worse) as black aggressors don’t face the consequences blacks often face because white lives are actually valued more by law enforcement.

lol funny that during 400 years of slavery whites dint see a need to overhaul the govt.

all whites are inherently evil and benefit off of the system of racism white supremacy.

blacks cant be racist, period.

I disagree with that.

We have no "shared interest in taking down a corrupt and oppressive government" because Italians (like most white people) are not oppressed by this white supremacist system on the scale that blacks are.

It's one of the main reasons why the upholders/enforcers of white supremacy, the police force, are mainly comprised of Italian Americans, especially in the East Coast.

You're using the played out "it's not about race, it's about class" white supremacist talking point.

Where's the numbers to back that up? I might know of 1 or 2 people I grew up with that became cops.

And saying that anyone besides the super rich aren't oppressed shows how ignorant you are to what really goes on in this country.

@Enzo

I also didn't bring up Italians' role in this country in the 1800 and 1900s to solely make a point about Italians, it was because someone asked if "my people" fought against 400 years of slavery, so I was showing how and why my people not only couldn't fight against it cause they weren't here, but when they got here they were subjected to some of the same treatment at that time.

And at that time they did fight against Jim Crow laws, they had to because they were also subject to them.

Race and the NYPD: It's Complicated

Retiring Chief of Department Joe Esposito said he viewed his police career as “a calling, not a job.” In that, he reversed the words of the former head of the Internal Affairs Division, John Guido, who years before said that unlike the Irish, he viewed being a police officer as a job and not a calling.

Perhaps Espo’s comfort level reflects the rise in numbers of Italian-American officers, who have superseded the Irish as the department’s largest ethnic group. And yet there has never been an Italian-American police commissioner. There can be only one reason for that: Italians in New York and in the NYPD are not a political force like other ethnic groups.

By trying to prove not all whites are racist and that we have a shared interest in taking down a corrupt and oppressive government, I'm trolling and proving white supremacy?

I never denied the white supremacist agenda, but I don't think what I'm doing is an example of it.

Your argument would be better geared towards a White audience.

Black people don't need to learn about class, race or solidarity with the working class. We are waiting for you guys to practice what you preach.

My point is we have things in common and that I'm not your enemy and don't support a system that is out to destroy you, as I've said many times.

I agree with this and the conversation is appreciated. Hopefully, we all leave with a better perspective.

Oh yea and the same Ethiopia that participated in the Arab and Barbary slave trades, that subjected Europeans and Africans to slavery for almost 1000 years.

"Arab slave trade was the practice of slavery in the Arab world, mainly in Western Asia, North Africa, Southeast Africa, the Horn of Africa and certain parts of Europe (such as Iberia and Sicily) beginning in the era of the Roman Empire and continuing until the early second half of the 20th century. The trade was conducted through slave markets in the Middle East, North Africa and the Horn of Africa, with the slaves captured mostly from Africa's interior.

Arabs also enslaved Europeans. According to Robert Davis, between 1 million and 1.25 million Europeans were captured between the 16th and 19th centuries by Barbary corsairs, who were vassals of the Ottoman Empire, and sold as slaves.[18][19][20] These slaves were captured mainly from seaside villages from Italy, Spain, Portugal and also from more distant places like France or England, the Netherlands, Ireland and even Iceland. They were also taken from ships stopped by the pirates.[21] The effects of these attacks were devastating: France, England, and Spain each lost thousands of ships. Long stretches of the Spanish and Italian coasts were almost completely abandoned by their inhabitants, because of frequent pirate attacks. Pirate raids discouraged settlement along the coast until the 19th century."

From my understanding, this was different slavery than that which is practiced to strengthen white supremacy. Slavery was practiced throughout the world. Mostly slaves were prisoners of war OR members of a rival religion (IE generally arabs trading pagans and christians or christians trading arabs etc)The whole concept of race ( from my readings) was implemented in the US to differentiate from the indentured servants and those who would eventually rise up in the caste system (see Irish, Polish, Italians maybe..don't know enough)

Watch this real quick and let me know your thoughts.

Not all were POWs or members of rival religions but that was part of it, and it actually helped usher in and was economically tied to the Transatlantic slave trade, but it was nowhere near as brutal. It also wasn't limited to Africans or color, and allowed much more upward mobility. It wasn't a systemic thing to hold down one race. Tariq ibn Ziyad, who conquered Spain and who Gibraltar was named after, was a slave of Musa bin Nusayr, who gave him his freedom and appointed him a general in his army. I mean it could go without saying nothing like that was remotely possible in the US.

They're only comparable in name and forced servitude really. Again that was just to make a point to another post, and mainly posted out of just being frustrated and caught up in the conversation.

Definitely can understand the frustration.... If you look at my post history, I like to address the past but also talk about tangible solutions. Italy eventually gave us back our obelisk so I guess we gotta let bygones be bygones. The ultimate goal from my perspective is to create an economic bridge between african nations and africans throughout the diaspora led by a coalition. The reason I say this is because you have a group that can support you (Italy) and for black americans (or even Ethiopian Americans growing up here) to fully prosper, they are going to need a base and so that connection has to be made and strengthened.

IMO, If you want to help, trade with this network, provide support and infrastructure for this network, and don't block this network from strengthening. Besides that, do what you can to help Italians in America and in Italy and use your blessing as an Italian American to strengthen that bridge.

Absolutely awesome read and it's what many of us have been trying to explain to you Respectibility Politics, Identity Politics type negroes especially when you get on your "Hip Hop is hold black people back" shyt.

Then 50 years from now, when hip hop has been FULLY taken over by the white power structure, your knucklehead fukktard kids will be complaining the same like when dumb dumbs whine now about how "White people stole rock music from Black people!!! :mjcry:"

@Enzo stop talking to this dude, he's just trying to deflect from the original point of the thread. Don't take the bait. He knows what he's doing, it's you that doesn't understand.

i assumed 'enzo" ,usually short for vincenzo, was white :yeshrug:
