I remember when he came out he was dissed heavily for making “Casio” beats. He has made some classics, no doubt, but I definitely get what you saying.

In a weird way the same could be said for Nore. He made some dope songs, has a classic album with cnn but by and large a mediocre rapper. Still he managed to reinvent himself and is enjoying great success.

Thats why they say (and i went to comm school) that most times out of 11, advertising/marketing > the actual product itself.



Not a knock to swizzies actual bodies of work. I actually enjoyed the casio-level joints a la 98-2000



And his resurgence/second wind of new signature sounds circa 2002-06 (i really feel like he reinvented himself during this period).

I played these songs heavy/had them in deep rotation with whatever i was bumping during those times. He was a staple in my cd player/mp3 set.



Then from 2007 onwards, he’ll
Have a couple of bangers spread amongst a vast myriad of extremely underwhelming/mediocrely and over produced crap with that doesnt hit for shiit.



Ive always followed this mans career very closely since my teenage years in highschool.


Dudes career has mostly been very disappointing for the most part because he had two very strong waves in my opinion and could never really maintain his momentum, albeit always being very relevant on the scene.



And i doubt this would be considered a hot take, but one feels that the only reason he had any placement/involvelent in MDBTF was due his friendship with Ye… not because of his producerial talents/ear for beats.



Aside from his two very strong musical waves, he’s basically some beatsmith who got a deal with reebok, married a keys and has a jewish nose.
