The sudden release dates are better than announcing an album months before

I was just thinking about this and I somewhat agree. Pushing your shyt back in hopes of catching some kinda "buzz" is whack and doesnt work. French should dropped his album at the peak of Pop That. fukkin Juicy J let all his momentum just die down. Now they're waisting money forcing whack ass singles and collabs on it.

If I was an artist Id release like a 5 song sample teaser of shyt that's goin be on the album (with like two singles on there). Once those singles start taking off an it looks they peaking announce the album to be released a couple weeks later. If Juicy J woulda done something similar with Bandz it may have worked out for him.

So fukking true

For mid level talent - Wales, Coles, Meeks of the world. Drop a dope azz mixtape let it buzz for about a Month. The streets are gonna gravitate to a street single. Work is done for you there as long as its quality.

Drop your First single about 4 weeks before the album is due. If its dope its gonna work for you. If its sucks you aren't doing anything anyway. No single can save you. About a week before the album drops drop a second single.

The Albums out in a 2 to 3 month cycle. All this 6 months to a year anticipation shyt is killing the game.

Agreed, but sometimes, i feel like a single catches on fire and the album isnt really complete....:ohhh:

I thought about this as well. But you gotta think, these nikkas is just tossin singles out there with no mindset of releasing a project, if they plan it ahead of time it shouldnt be a problem. Kinda similar to Trinidad James All Gold Everything, it was part of a project and when the single blew they sold it (although it was offered free beforehand).

Or possibly release it in installments so they capatilize off something, idk the idea isnt perfect but they def need to try something other than what they're currently doing.

Most albums that take a really long time to come out end up lettin you down anyway (GFID,103,Dreams & Nightmares etc) nikkas will put out mixtapes with single-worthy songs and top notch production (Rich Forever) then the album is some weak "something for everybody" garbage :snoop:

I enjoy the hype for some albums, but these random drops make me even crazier for it the music. Its quiet then out of nowhere a whole project manifests. The mystery behind Yeezus and the randomness of MCHG were a good feeling.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
I hate the waiting game, the pushbacks, the flopped singles, the promises etc...:scusthov:

The new wave is announcing an album and then dropping that bytch :blessed:

I think it benefits the artist more because we can learn the date and then cop up asap...rather than wait and wait.

Of course, this works best with bigger artists such as Yeezy and Hov and Em and Wayne etc.....but Drake got me waiting so long to the point I'm like -- fukk it --- I'm just gonna download that shyt :ehh:

i agree with this fully and it's mostly because of the internet.. lets take meek mill

if he dropped i'm a boss.. then quickly said my album dropping next month.. he would have sold WAAAAAY more albums

french montana would have sold way more albums if he dropped right after shot caller

with the internet, you are more likely to be forgotten in a few months.. either that or you put out a second, third, fourth single... sometimes they don't compare to the first one and people lose interest.. or it over saturates... or someone new comes along and now you're ignored

this isn't 2000 when you had videos only on mtv or bet and the only way you got music was to wait till it dropped.. there's way too much music out to be focused and watiing on some artist to drop his album 10 months from now

I kinda miss the days when mixtapes would just drop outta nowhere too. Now nikkas is makin "trailers" with 8-9 spoiler tracks weeks before the release :why: It really killed the "oh shyt!" factor of the game.

Back in 08-09 that feeling of logging on and seeing Gucci dropped another classic out of nowhere was just :blessed:

You're career is gonna flop regardless, breh.:mike:

I clearly noted that it may only benefit bigger names...but i personally think it could work with meek, fab, ross, level rappers

they could announce it 2 months before, drop videos, singles and loose songs and eat good ....
