To be fair... quite a few GAR/Pax players were contributing to Playoff teams. Bulls just never had the right coach to get the most out of everyone at the same time.
:manny:

I'm glad we're in a new phase tho, just making an observation.

Eh...I don't believe it's coaching. Team construction is more important than coaching IMO.

Doc's a terrible coach, but he coaches good teams, which is why he's typically coaching deep into the playoffs.

everything is lining up for Lonzo but I still feel like it won’t become reality. I’m all in on it at this point though. I’m sure Zach is recruiting. Rich Paul wants him here. Pelicans sound like they are moving on. It’s all adding up but these things never work out for us.

What’s our big man depth looking like with Lauri / Theis both likely not returning? We can’t count on the euro rookie to really be a rotation guy year one. That leaves us with just Thad & Vuce? I guess a vet backup center will have to be signed, who’s out there?

I don’t know much about Ayo, how is his defense? Cool to bring in a Chicago guy though. Does this mean anything for Cobys future assuming we also sign a legit starting PG as well

I don't think Ayo is taking Coby's spot. Feels like a depth selection, I'm not sure if he's projected to be a good perimeter defender in the league or not either

Edit: after looking up some analysis on him, seems comparable to Coby in size and style of play. Bulls still need to get a PG. Both Coby and Ayo are combos who aren't great at running an offense

I don’t think he’s directly taking his spot but when I factor in that we are basically 100% going to spend heavy on a starting PG it makes me wonder. Like I said I don’t know Ayos game but I don’t think he’s a microwave like scorer like Coby, so I suppose they can offer different things for us. We’re going to need to figure out a legit plan for whos starting in the front court alongside Pat & Vuce, Coby might be a piece that can help AK get that

20/6/5... 38% from 3, he's a month older than Coby. They seem interchangeable honestly
:manny:

Things get interesting if Ayo actually runs point in the NBA more efficiently than expected. The question marks around him are similar to Coby's.

Surprised some of you guys didn’t follow Ayo the last couple of years. I’m not a big college basketball guy fan like that either, but he made Illinois relevant again. Two years ago Illinois was one of the teams projected to win the NCAA tournament but Covid happened and canceled it and last year was the same expectations but lost early in the tournament. They won the big 10 tournament so that’s still something worth mentioning.

I don’t ever think he was projected as a lottery pick, but for months mock drafts had him going in the first round. I don’t know what happened. But if you go by the logic that he’s first round talent then we got an absolute steal.

And also I want to point out that with signing marko simonovic this year, technically we still got two new guys from the draft. Which means we had this planned out after the vooch trade.

just wanted to point that out since there are some people here who complained about trading draft picks away.

I'm all for Chicago to continue to add players with length, good motors who can defend multiple positions. Offensively, Ayo and Coby seems redundant but I think he has more potential to be a good defender on the perimeter. We need to keep adding athletes and defense around Zach and Vucevic lowkey
