if you are a taoism noob this is a great intro 
. Easy to read and relateable for western students, and a lot of nice stuff re: daily life and general health practices. The taoism stuff isnt super in depth but it is one of my favorite books

i got into Chinese Alchemy when i was in college...fasinating stuff like the science of the "golden flower"
what i like about it that it was very practical.......
especially dealing with HOES...when u take a ZEN like approach to them......
it fukks them up..like on some PIMP shyt
so basically "i don't get MAD..i just get MONEY and laugh at these savages cause they so funny........."

I dont know if its anything but bullshyt but man it is interesting.
conceptual understanding isnt dependent on speaking on it..necessarily..but ill entertain briefly...
even if we discussed the tao for years until we had a thousand page manuscript of its details...the tao could still end up being something a million times different...however,
a good way to look at it is just simply thru the yin-yang..harmonization of opposites...balance...perspective...balance of perspective...perspective of balance...etc..for eternity and with energy behind it that is extraordinary..
that is the philosophy stuff..then u have to differentiate and look at the religion part..which is incense burning, creating immortality for oneself etc

this is why "SILENCE IS GOLDEN" and cherished amongst many schools of thoughts....because in the words of the masters...
they didn't want the teachings "prostituted" or taken for granted...
the UNIVERSE simply acts..and doesn't seek validation...
and we should be like the UNI-VERSE (one word) and just DO and not VOCALIZE everything we do...that's the value of humility...
particularly the THEORETICAL teachings of the TAO....which require no outward display (religious)
as for me i emphasis duality in the form of balancing YIN and YANG....

only reason i got into it, was because of the fact that i had completed my 120 lessons as a 5%er and was looking for a plus lesson (parralel higher teachings) to add to my foundation...
plus i can't front i was a Wutang fan as well
got curious..then intrigued and actually got enlightned
can't forget my first trip to a buddhist temple here in georgia...
HELLUVA EXPERIENCE...it was so much more accomadating and not as obnoxious and nerve racking as going to a Church or a Mosque....
the buddhist abbot of the temple answered all that i needed to know ..when i asked him the role of BUDDAH in spirituality
he simply said..."YOU ARE THE BUDDAH...I AM THE BUDDAH..WE ALL BECOME BUDDAH by going through the cycles of life..."
i really became changed..and i don't say that often..but the most obvious transformation was my TEMPERMENT....mane i couldn't hold a job for shyt back in the day ....much less friends.........
i realized SHYT HAPPENS..DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF...and the MOST IMPORTANT THING IS: EVERYTHING NO MATTER HOW TRAGIC OR PLEASANT IS JUST TEMPORAL
those teachings alone helped me COPE with alot of shyt in my life......
