it ages terribly. Don't get me wrong me personally I can still enjoy tracks from 2 years ago or whatever but they get 0 radio play and nobody wants to listen to them if its 2+ years old. Its like they never even existed. Versace is only like 2 months old and its already lost most of its buzz, nobody is listening to that shyt anymore. Some rapper said in a interview that todays main audience gets tired of music fast, you need to continually release new music or they'll stop supporting you.

This era doesn't have any timeless tracks (Ex. Soul Survivor, any other hit rap song)

Tracks lose all its buzz so fast its crazy. Versace was popping like crazy like 2 weeks after its release. Everybody was saying Versace and the song was a hit, wheres Versace at now? Where tf is nikkas In Paris? How long has it been since you listened to that shyt?

i think it has something to do with the production. it doesn't even sound like the producer took their time. the music in general just sounds microwave. artists boast how they completed a project in a few weeks like it's something to be applauded. in the end, not taking their time and cooking up something special just cheapens their craft overall. the best albums are well thought out and curated to perfection. i would rather an artist get a team that has a vision and slow simmer and cook an album over 8 months or more to really capture a moment than work 3 months to pick hot beats and write random 16's that fit together.

That always happened though.

For a song to get play, its either gotta be new or old enough to be seen as a throwback. I remember back in 03-04 once In da club got played out nobody wanted to listen to that shyt until years later

I do agree that songs buzzes are shorter nowadays

It's the pacification of hip-hop fans.....been goin' on for years, right up under cats' noses.

Most of today's music is cookie-cutter shyt, to capitalize on the "hot sound", that's why ere'body shyt sound the same...and that type of "creative environment" leads to shorter fan attention spans.

Nothing will ever change until fans wise up and start holding artists and labels accountable.

songs come and songs go, them type of songs are blew up by fans who after that they looking for the next hot song, look at wale bad and cole power trip is still getting play, them shyts be out a while and still getting played, nikkaz in paris was played for like that entire year

and its not the music has no replay value, its certain fans hold no value in music and look for the next big thing every 5 minutes, i still bumping wale, cole and jay albums, and im still bumping shyt from last year, and the years before that

yeah i feel the same way i wanted to include this in the OP. The only thing i really truly enjoy more about 00's music over music now is the production those old tracks had. you can tell the producer really put a lot of work into it and made it a timeless track. producers today (DJ mustard specially) are making beats with like 4 diff sounds max

ADHD. I already forgot what this thread was about :mjpls:

THIS!

There's just too much music coming out. Too much media. Too much communication withthe internet and smart phones.

I remember in the 90s where artists could promote and/or tour on on album for two years. Now songs and albums are played out in 2 months.

Depends what you listening to, K-Rino has made some timeless amazing music recently. Papoose had some great tracks on his album that will stand the test of time. Saigon had some excellent tracks on his album that will also. Talib Kweli had some nice shyt. Nas had some nice shyt. It's all about who you listen to. Brother Ali, Chino Xl, the list goes on of people who have made some artistic tracks and real music recently.
