Groupie pt2 , The Way You Do It and Speed would be the top 3 for me.

Def a classic album for the time it dropped, got into many battles, whether via convo or ciphers/bars over this album.

Didn't age to well to me though/stance has changed to more of a negative over the years. I also feel Slum/Dilla/Dwele was on that vibe first before LB and Kanye. I'm still able to listen to the Minstrel Show though, that's the one right there.

Dope thread.

If you don't mind elaborating, you got me curious. Why did it become more of a negative for you and what makes you say it didn't age well? I always wonder what people mean when they say that.

Sonically the beats didn't age well imo. 9th elevated since then. It's barely listenable to me now. Back then I used to argue with cats complaining about the snare/drums, 9th sounding like a cheap Pete imitation and etc. I was always Lyrics over beats and actually agreed with the Pete comparison but didn't understand/really get the snare shyt until I got involved with the beats myself. I was always on a dope beat is a dope beat type of vibe, which I still am to a high degree but some of what 9th was doing back then sticks out like a sore thumb. Im glad he switched it up/evolved. 9th somewhere in the middle point of his career (from then to now) might be my favorite version.

Now when I listen to it, for me Phonte is the star of the show instead of the perfect marriage of beats and rhymes I thought it was before . Pooh ended up getting busy on later stuff/he elevated too.
