You can't compare Run DMC to Mobb Deep...

Mobb Deep is that "heavy metal for the black people,"...

Run DMC is pop rap dude...If music was beer, Run DMC is Bud Light while Mobb Deep is Stella Astois or Heineken...

Run-DMC was pop? They were the first rap group to really make it street. Before that people were dressing like disco artists with glitter and all kinds of stuff. Run-DMC came out wearing jeans with Adidas and so forth. They were the ones that added the grit to rap music. They may have crossed over but that did not make them pop.

I am talking "subject matter"...Run DMC were doing that tame rap...

They didn't rap about that delinquent life...

Mobb Deep is "shoot em up" music, Run DMC is "let's hold hands and be happy" music...

Why would anybody even want to compare Mobb Deep to Run DMC?

A better comparison is Run DMC vs Beastie Boys

Mobb Deep are legends but they ain't fukkin with Run-DMC. I think most of you are probably too young to even understand how large Run-DMC was. Arguably the most important rap act ever.

Run-D.M.C. is my favorite rap group of all-time. Whatever they lacked in lyricism, they made up for with everything else. Songwriting, charisma, stage presence, flow/delivery. They made you pay attention to everything they were saying.

The genre advanced a lot faster than they did and they got lost in the shuffle by the end of the 1980s, but their music still goes hard to this day. :blessed:

Numbers don't lie :umad:

Run Dmc gets a lot of YouTube views because they put out a a lot of classic songs people still listen to and new fans
Mobb Deep never really had that appeal outside of hip hop like Run DMC did. They never sold records like thy did. So I wouldn’t expect the YouTube views to be equal.

Song quality though? Mobb got that.

Ok, let's settle this right here, right now.

You in the car on a Saturday afternoon in the summer. The entire avenue is out enjoying the weather, cleaning their cars. You have 2 CDs in the car. A Mobb Deep mix you made, and a Run DMC mix you made.

Which CD are you playing?
