You cannot claim SYG when you START AN ALTERCATION. Judging from his many different and creative testimonies, and his current perjury problems, it's extremely unlikely anyone is going to believe that he wasn't the instigator in this case.

SYG allows you to use deadly force if you feel your life is at stake. It doesn't allow you to instigate any incident like Zimmerman.

Actually the cops wanted to arrested him and charge him with Manslaughter. It was the prosecutors who was trying to cover everything up. In fact the lead investigator filed some kind of formal disagreement about it.
