What the fukk is Israel then? Your national identity and sovereignty was literally around the same time. I can ask you same the things before Israel was constructed after WW2. Who were the presidents and where were the borders, until it became defined after WW2.
I genuinely don't see how what you're arguing doesn't hold true to Israel while ignoring the populations and history of the land before Israel existed.

It's a long standing and confusing conflict; you're Jewish, so I will say you probably know more than me regarding this area and the development, but it still doesn't diminish the actions of the current state at all.
And you should hopefully know I'm not antisemitic; I don't buy into all the theories about Jews and everything. I would even consider them important allies at times. I even think they may be a necessary force for us over there instead of Saudi Arabia or Iran, but even with those acknowledgments, I can't stand by and justify what they're doing to Palestine at all and I never will.
There is fighting back or a show of force and then there's what's happening there. Everyday is a new atrocity. The lives of those hostages are not worth more than the countless innocent citizens being murdered nor will like you said, just returning them erase this.
It's an everlasting war. Out of curiosity, would you consider what's happening with Russia and Ukraine a genocide? What are you actually open to as a resolution? One state/two state?
