the opinion of most of the world is that the US is too powerful for any country to beat
and while i agreed that technology, money and manpower is on the US's side . . .

it doesn't guarantee victory obviously, (korea, vietnam, afghanistan, iraq)
when you look back at major wars this country has fought, it becomes clear that it has never gone toe to toe with a worthy adversary, only flabby and sick enemies

"US victories"

-spanish american war: spain was already in decline for at least 100 yrs
-ww1 : the US join the war a year before it ended, with allies france and britain
ww2 : again, the US joined mid way through the war and with allies
greneda (1983) : invaded a small, relatively defenseless island
Panama (1989) : again, invaded a small country with a small, basic military with low moral and barely any heavy weapons

desert storm : a multinational force ganged up on iraq, the US and UK were never able to take out those SCUD launchers, but most importantly, iraqs army were poorly trained and even more poorly lead


Afghanistan: get pressed by mountain guerillas for more than a decade

Iraq (2003 - present) : we had to bribe guerillas in order to switch sides (2007)

The basis of American power is it's impossible to invade unless you're Mexico or Canada, and if you're Mexico or Canada you're far too weak to do anything.

So if America loses wars it doesn't matter because they're all fought offshore. No American civilians die, no American land is lost, no resources are lost, no infrastructure is damaged; basically, it's as though America didn't lose at all. There's few domestic consequences for America losing foreign wars.

If you can't be invaded then nobody can do you any serious harm. If your enemy can't bring the fight to your home, even if they're much more powerful than you are, they can't do shyt to you. That's what makes a country powerful, strategic dominance, not necessarily having the best war record, the best generals, the best technology etc.
