It’s tough to beat America in a trade war because we are the biggest consumers on the planet. You can combine Europe and East Asia but still not have the same export business you’d get if you shipped to the United States. It’s that much disparity. Countries know this so they ship to us.
Our day-to-day got us buying so much unnecessary shyt and we’re spoiled. Most citizens of other countries, not even poor countries, don’t need half the shyt we buy. Even Trump said “Why do little girls need 30 dolls? 3 would do.”
That lies part of the problem why it’s not a W here, dude made Americans’ lives worse and less “free” doing all this because things are now more expensive and pricey, can’t consider that a W. Why should I have less when I worked hard to have more? Not to mention what happens from here with a lower floor than previous.
This was basically cutting a lot of corners to get a half-assed solution or result.
Plus we still haven’t closed deals with other countries yet and if those deals for Asian countries have an included “no China” policy, many countries like Japan said they wouldn’t be on board.
Like others have mentioned: and this still doesn’t bring manufacturing and jobs back. In fact Trump, saying they want China to import more America products and have things like Google, Amazon, etc. in China only opens the door for more outsourcing. That’s really shytty news because if you think outsourcing to India is a problem, no fukking way do you want to outsource to China because of how much better and more advanced they are: companies are licking their chops to do that.
In other words: we are not better off than we were this time last year. We’re on a lower level and our slope is slipperier.
