The story behind the Beastie Boys dis is in the new Check the Technique book...

They were actually on good terms w/ the Beasties, even after they left to go to Capitol. But then Serch went to speak to Mike D and inquire about Def Jam before they got started up there... and shyt seemed cool but then Mike (probably high) started throwin' shyt at him :russ: Couple months later, 'Steppin to the AM' was out, and SPIN mag asked the Beasties what they thought of 3rd Bass, and they dissed 'em and Mike brought up the time he threw shyt at Serch... that prompted the 'Sons of 3rd Bass' song.

And who asked about 'how 3rd Bass gonna defend Run DMC but dis the Beasties'... :what:

Everywhere...You never there.
Yeah. His name was Zyce or some shyt. He went back and forth with a poster in a 3rd Bass thread with mad vigor and inside info. Finally admitted he was Serch over PM. Then a week later I saw him posting in a thread, shytting on Pac (I remember very clearly: some cat was posting positive shyt about Pac and Serch came through and referenced Pac getting shot and killed and said "Pac wasn't strong enough" in a really snide way) and some poster went in on that dude. Called him fat, corny, told him he had an embarrassing Jewish flattop... Never saw Zyce post again.

:ohhh:
