The way Dilla chopped and sampled “Ain’t Got Time” by Roy Ayers is genius

Yessir

I can remember my brother in law butint this soundtrack from Barnes N Nobles back in the day
I just found this shyt digging online back in the day. When I was a kid seeking out underground shyt on blogspots and kazaa. That whole rawkus era will always hold a special place in my heart.

This track also blew my mind when I first heard it. Still one of the most beautiful tracks ever created.

Didn’t Pete Rock sample it first? I know Dilla a GOAT but that damn Pete Rock was a pioneer. I know he’s a bozo and all….

Yeah he did

Pete sampled it for him and CL’s song “In the House”

Yeah, Pete is like Dilla’s musical father

You can see and hear how influential Pete’s early work was to Dilla and how Dilla found his own way and style through that influence and went further with it
