pop is a fukking GREAT coach. one of, if not, the best of all-time. i've never seen someone get so much out of so many throwaway players as pop has. i mean, you've gotta be pretty awesome if you can make fukking patty mills matter...in the finals, for fukk's sake. but at same time, we wouldn't be talking about him with such praise if they didn't have the drob injury/tank and get tim duncan, or their incredible draft record, or their brilliant trades/signings.

i've been saying this about the spurs for years...from top to bottom, they're one of the best organizations in sports history. they're all perfect together. from front office, to scouting, to coaching, to players on the floor...they not only all work in harmony but each moving part seems to get the best out of itself. that's why this small market franchise has been a such a powerful machine across 3 different decades now. it's amazing, really.

Assuming he's able to get the #1 pick and draft the greatest big man of his generation, then sure.

If the Celtics get that #1 pick and the Spurs end up with Keith Van Horn instead we wouldn't even have discussions about Popovich in 2014.
I used to think this until the last couple years.

He completely revamped the team while keeping the same, aging core. Went from all defense to all offense. Won rings doing both. The big 3 played less minutes than any starters in the league this year and instead Pop has a team full of throwaway trash players out-dueling all-NBA names.

Astounding.

this guy is putting on a coaching clinic against spo...last year he tried to get too cute and bit him in the ass, this year he's not tinkering with anything, just sending 10 guys every night who are chewing up spolestra's weak ass pick and roll blitzes with ease

Wherever nikkas need to be told on
Did these nikkas luck out with the tank job to land Duncan? Yes. But how do you explain this other shyt? :mindblown:

Got Ginobili 57th overall in 1999

Tony Parker was selected 28th overall in 2001

They traded George Hill to nab Kawhi Leonard with the 15th pick

They saw something in these nikkas that nobody else did and they developed them as players who are among the best in the league

There's a reason the Spurs are perennial contenders and it's not just Timmy (although he's arguably the biggest reason)

There's a reason nikkas go to San Antonio and have their best years: Stephen Jackson, George Hill, Bruce Bowen, Boris Diaw, and many many more

:salute: Pop and co

Optimistic But I Got Hands Tho
If Pop can kill the heavy usage of isolations and basic PNR plays in the league by winning it all this way he goes down as the GOAT for this century.

Could you imagine if all 30 teams played this way?

the nba must find a way to keep lance stephenson from the spurs because if that happens you will watch the GOAT reckless player ever
