The problem with soul food isn't the food itself but who is preparing it. Soul food (really any Black food, Caribbean or African) takes top ingredients and great care. If you pull it off it's transcendent but you can also taste when they take shortcuts.

I don't think Chinese food has that same ceiling but it has a higher floor because a lot of it is for the most part modified street food (in it's origins)

My nikka, macaroni and cheese as we know it was invented at Monticello. What we now know as soul food was served on the tables of the richest plantation owners in the south, entertaining elites of the era. Whatsoever do you mean?

I've been getting tired of soul food and its justified.

Its repetitive and tastes the same. Greens, Mac n cheese, fried chicken, corn bread, and yams. Its the same no matter what resturant you go to.

Asians have Mongolian beef, Orange Chicken, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, egg foo young, stir fry, teriyaki chicken, etc.
