the (presumed) delay of this album is one of the weirdest things I've seen in recent music. Both singles did well, people actually fukked with the new image (which surprised me)...and then they just disappeared. no news, no nothing. Felt like a 2010 album release window where you get the singles and then the album comes out months later. we off that, it's 2019/2020...

Weeknd has been a favorite, maybe THE favorite new artist for me, since 2011, but I think he's slipped popularity wise, and you will see it with this album, but that's just my feeling, based on the reactions to those songs, both of which I liked, or found things about them to like. Blinding Lights is hopefully the dominant sound as far as the album, but I think his team felt the response was lukewarm, and pushed back the release. I am sure I will love it, or a portion of it, regardless.

Let's see the sales numbers, and beyond that, would be hard for me to measure, but just the feeling going in, doesn't feel the way it did, which makes sense, as he's been low since Starboy, despite a great EP in 2018.
I saw him at Forum in LA in 2015, and that was probably the peak.
I'm looking forward to it, I played Blinding Lights at least 100 times last year.
