The Weeknd could be a star if he wasn't so weird

He'll be fine. He's making his own music and he will always have a fanbase because of that. Mainstream RnB is like the worst genre ever, thank God he's switching it up

Mainstream R&B would be the best shyt going if nikkas didn't cater to cacs and stayed true to the soul.

If dude did traditional R&B instead of that abstract shyt he's doing now he would be platinum by now. Dude has the voice to be big in R&B but he's stuck on abstract music and videos that stoners and weirdo's seem to gravitate to. He's got the vocals but he'll never move major units as long as he's on that weird shyt. He has a niche but like all niche genre's you only get a small fraction of the market share.

he did that aready, and he couldnt get on with it.

There's a mixtape out there with his older stuff. It's more typical contemporary R&B Some of it's pretty good

But I do agree somewhat, he could have a Maxwell type of thing going if he toned it down a bit

Maxwell is a perfect example. Dude never over exposes himself and is still somewhat of a mystery and he's been out since I was in elementary school. Dude is the male version of Sade'. Maxwell is a great example, I'll rep you if I could for this post. Maxwell makes great R&B music and never tried to be a star. I don't recall seeing him trying to be an actor or anything. Dude drops his albums and disappears until it's time to drop another 1. And he hasn't fell off yet after all these years.

If he wanted to go that route he wouldve signed with Drake, I think this just shows that he wants to do his own thing. He has the perfect amount of fame, enough so that you're popular and can make a good living on your music but not enough to have the paparazzi tailing you.

He doesn't have the look, personality, or stage presence to be a Chris Brown, Trey Songz type. He is lucky this darker r&b is being taken up people honestly because he would be completely behind the scenes putting music together if it wasn't.
Exactly, this guy writes music but does he actually live that life? Thats why he stays in the shadows. I see straight through the manufactured image especially when you find out that it was the producer that put him on that style. I don't think he can fit in his new shoes.

I like weeknd. Something about his music is just off tho. The flow is weird, like he's saying too many words or something. I can't really explain it....

Just makes his songs hard as fukk to follow and I end just listening to it and not knowing wtf he talking about

Why would he sign with Drake over Universal? How many acts have Drake put out on his label? It's like saying a nikka signed to Sony instead of BWS. Of course any smart man would sign directly to the major instead of some nikka that's never put out an artist.

Do men fukk with this dude's more than women though? Seems like the guys relate more to his content, and women feel like his voice it a bit much. I wouldn't even say he has the voice to be a superstar. His voice and how he sings is an acquired taste in a lot of cases. It's like you can hardly understand what he's saying on some tracks.

I mess with his sound, but I can only listen to him in doses.

He was cool when he first started coming out with mixtapes but honestly I think dude is just a fad played off the hype of Drake. ..

I came in here to say this. All drake stans got hyped off the weekend because Drizzy ordered them to like him, and we know young money stans have never been accused of being free thinkers. Once OVOOOYOYOHOMO broke up, the buzz surrounding the weekend has noticeably cooled.

They were actually comparing this cat to michael jackson around this time last year. :troll:
