And that's the thing.... And not to sound like a pretentious music douche but I feel like a lot of his bars goes over a lot of folks heads. You really have to listen to Abel's lyrics and realize that throughout his music he's painting pictures of different segments of his life. The life he once lived, the life he lives with his new found fame, how he lives with it, copes with it, and the ways in which it all engulfs his life, specifically his relationships with women. If you listen closely, he sings a lot about a specific woman from the past. Listen to Adaptation and Tears In The Rain.

So sad it had to be this, she forgot the good things about me, she let it slip away, away.. "

Listen to Belong To The World and he's singing about wanting to embrace and love a prostitute because "you're dead inside".. which he claims he is as well and it's tempting because he knows she'll never truly love him, which is what he wants now since embracing this new lifestyle. More specifically, since the woman from the past is gone for good. He makes that clear on Adaptation.

I don't know if dudes listen to music or just skim through it but there aren't many artists like the Weeknd out today. He is an extremely gifted musical talent.
