West coast has never been know for fly hairstyles. When I think of west coast hairstyles I think of Jheri curls and bald Mexicans.

It cost a lot of money to have a barbershop in Los Angeles and most black people can't afford it. So what happens is some white or middle easterner start chain barbershops and he's the one who does the hiring of black talent. It's very rare to find a black owned barber shop that's just been around for decades.

The very talented black barbers barbers charge a grip and because of that nikkas learn to cut their own hair.

Then some shops don't treat their customers right. Get lined up in more ways then 1 because you look like a victim. Hurts the potential for expanding client base.

Lastly there may be only 1 guy who can really cut cut. If he leaves or y'all fall out you gotta find a new shop.

When I was in the bay area I was getting some bad cuts...it wasn't until someone told me to go to steph Currys barber in Oakland that they finally did a decent job....cut was expensive too

I'm born and raised in the bay, but I must say that after joining this forum that I can now see why people would think this way about us

I’m bouta get a cut today y’all. $40 that’s the lowest I can find here,that’s actually quality. fell out w the last barber because he was charging $75. Keep in mind I generally don’t pay more than $60 to get my locks re hit and styled. There’s no way a cut should cost more than a retwist but here it can.

LA has a good amount of black barbers. In the bay, I cant find a decent barber at a decent price since they all leave the area. Barbers are trying to charge $50 for fade. Shyt is ridiculous.
