I wouldn't say those are even common sentiments, they're mainly "internet rap nerd" views that don't match majority opinion. And that type of shyt is very rampant in every genre, not just hip hop. You find it in every art medium. There are cinema nerds who will tell you with a straight face that Martin Scorsese is overrated, or Steven Spielberg isn't a good director.

And my point still stands I don't think Dre is overrated personally he's one of the best hip-hop producers of all time. But if a brotha likes Quik or BattleCat more and feel they are underrated it's nothing wrong with that IMO.

I thought it was relevant because of This parody quote in the OP mentioning Beyonce. I tried to give a personal example of a less popular artist "being better" in my book than the mainstream one.

I think it's good to have different views on music. Even the hot takes are welcomed in my books.
