Can you play part 2 without having played part 1? I have it but haven't even opened it up yet.

Bought it because I'd heard nice things, but I could never get into part two. Bored me to tears. It was collecting dust so I eventually sold it to some guy on campus. This looks nice, but I'll most def rent before buying this time around.

I actually didn't like part 1, then started to really like it out of nowhere.

Could I skip part 1 and go straight to part 2 or would something be missed by doing so? I was thinking bout picking this up before i even read this thread. Witcher 1 is 10 dollars on steam right now.

well witcher 2 gives you a recap of what happened in part 1 so its not really necessary

Prolly my second fav rpg of this gen (after ME) I liked it so much I just bought it again for my nephew from GoG.com
I actually liked the combat it forced you to be strategic and it punished you if you goofed around.
I can't wait for part 3, I'm tempted to play through it again on whatever difficulty is after dark but I have a massive backlog.

I'm playing it now and that's what I'm realizing. it seems like a 'button masher', but you really can't get away with playing it that way

Yeah if you play it as a button masher your ass is grass.
:heh: if you're trying to just mash it, you'll get destroyed real quick. You have to stick and move make use of that defensive Sign.
