The Witcher 3 story on rails?

Are there any real choices you make to take a different story path? I'm just a few hours in and only a level 3 character, but it seems that there are merely just dialogue options in the story rather then actual other options. For example, I'm at this part where I'm about to kill this demon baby, at the beginning of this scene it would appear I had another option, but that was merely dialogue only options as it turned out. Wtf?

Your choices definitely change the game much more than just different dialogue options. Play the game more than "Just a few hours" and you'll see that.

There can be major changes in the story. I won't spoil it but there's def huge changes to who is where does what etc etc

The ultimate plot thread thats the skeleton plot of the game is essentially same, but there's a lot of variables and differences in society etc.
