If the money is there which I'd have to believe they are smart enough to know that it is, then by all means get your money..
If you read any WNBA thread in this subforum, you'd know damn well there isn't. It looks like their plan is just to shame the NBA & NBAPA in the media under the guise of Feminism, #MeToo, & Misogyny into forking more money to them.

If WNBA teams were really profitable enough to increase player salaries, there would be greater investor interest. But since there is no real investor interest, it seems highly unlikely that there is that much profit being generated...JMO

Low Key Barnes been getting in Skylar's ass with his play lately. Making all of this look even more foolish

yo, it's :mindblown: the lack of awareness these broads have about their collective fiscal situation when they are playing in a league that's been in the red for 20+ years.

WNBA, union reach 'groundbreaking' new CBA

WNBA Highlights said:
Highlights of WNBA CBA
• Annual base pay for league's highest paid player jumps from $117,500 to $215,000.

• With other benefits, the league's top players could earn cash compensation in excess of $500,000.

• The agreement is for eight years, from the 2020 through 2027 seasons with a mutual opt-out provision after six years.

• 2020 salary cap will be $1.3 million, up from $996,100 in 2019, sources tell ESPN.

• Players who complete their contracts and have five or more years of service can become unrestricted free agents, unless they are tagged as a "core" player.

• The number of times a player can be tagged as "core" goes from four to three beginning this season, and drops to two beginning with the 2022 season.

• Players will receive full salary while on maternity leave, an annual childcare stipend of $5,000, and guarantee of two-bedroom apartments for players with children.

The WNBA has been marketing themselves towards woman and that hasn't been working. Women don't watch women's sports in large numbers.
They need to start marketing themselves toward male fans. Which means, making the uniforms more sexy. No reason for females to be rocking the long ass shorts like men do. give them short shorts or yoga pants. Make the tops tighter. etc. Use the sex appeal to get the numbers.

Women players don't rock those long ass shorts, they've been trending shorter just like the men have been doing

It sounds like it would benefit more the star players rather than everyone as a whole as the league minimum contract amount was a problem as well. Have they announced what the new minimum contract amount will be?

The increase in the salary cap would mainly go to the star players as owners will use it as a way to prevent them for playing overseas, but lower tier players will still have to do it.

Don’t get me wrong all of this is a step in the direction, but the increase in pay will only benefit certain players.
