are these teams evenly matched? or is one supposed to be a heavy favorite? … I know argentina got the crowd, but how are the actual teams viewed

France are favorites : the team is more balanced, more athletic, more fundamentally good, younger, and basically all their lines have top players playing in top clubs and there's no real weakness except the coach (yes I'm hating). Argentina however theoretically has more firepower in their O line and has Messi who's a top 5 all time player. That said, their defense is trash (they are slow, not tall and not really sound fundamentally speaking), their midfield is not really balanced (but that's the coach fault) and their goalie is several notches below ours. If Argentina wins this, it's because we messed it up.

Speed means nothing if you don't have a first touch or elite ball control. What makes Mbappe special is the fact he's so athletic yet also technically gifted. That is what separates the good players from the great.

Just being fast is useless. You also need to be skilled.
