I read awhile back that another big reason they weren't able to win anything is because during the late 90's and early 2000's all that anomisity from the Prem Rivalry really spread into the National team locker room and they admitted that alot of them avoided even talking to each other and really affected the Chemistry

It's more from 04 onwards. When Chelsea go the money and started winning , Liverpool and United players felt a way.
