Argentina's midfield is non existent as they chose to build on the wings but because of that Messi can't connect well in this no man's land. Argentina needs a proper 8 badly. Sampaoli had Rey Arturo in Chile and he was oiling his Chile very well but a guy like him is clearly missing in the Argentinian side.

The only one they have is Banega.

They need to go back to the old Argentina formation 4312.

Dybala can interchanges with Messi and drift wide to the right, Di Maria provides drive from midfield and Banega gets the ball forward into Messi

Lack of legs in midfield they will get over run, but they getting overrun as it is anyway

Agree they need that diamond, the only true Argentinian formation I wasn't sure that Banega was called up but if he is, Sampaoli needs to put him asap.
