Absolutely. If there was ever a time for Ronaldo or Messi to solidify their greatness, now is the time .

For some reason I can't shake the idea of Croatia making a deep run in this. They got Denmark and if they win they got Spain/Russia. And Spain been highly questionable.

This may be shaping up to be one of the GOAT world cups .

Modric/Rakitic been consistently the best midfield duo in the Cup. Only ones close are Kante/Pogba and even that looked slow and mediocre until the 2nd half of the first match.

As much as I love Iniesta there was no way he shoulda been getting more clock than Rakitic last season.

Nah, Kante is the best midfield defender on the planet. Messi will have none of the service that Banega gave to him. Griezmann and Mbappe are FINSHERS they won't squander the chances that Nigeria had.

If anyone besides Messi has the chance to go off its Pogba...if he's played as a #8 and given freedom to roam forward...Mache is dunzo. Not to mention Umtiti defends Messi in practice all season.

I get it...Messi is GOAT level and he's woken up now....but I don't see him having the support and role players that France has...and that will be the difference.

Yeah and apart from him being in the job for 12 years, where the main core have heard his part time manager voice for nearly a decade, they've probably tuned him out.

I also go as far and say the Bundesliga being a one horse race for the past 5 seasons, hasn't help either. When you are so use to not needing to fight for victory, when the time comes, they don't have it or know what is required to pull it off in important games.

and calling the French side sorry? They topped their group with 7 points only Croatia (prolly the out and out best looking team) and Uruguay (in the weakest group mind you) have more points at this juncture.
