what about just world cup tho? is this biggest world cup upset? i know korea isn't that bad, but given the scenario this felt like a huge upset. korea had nothing to play for and for germany it was basically do or die

south koreas run in 2002 was a really big underdog story (although it was controversial)
argentina also went out in the first round in 2002
Bulgaria vs Germany 1994 was a big shock but most of the German players were washed while Bulgaria had the best player in the world at the time

but the BIGGEST upsets are

England v. Belgium is about to be some Keystone Cops football.

They even get to know who they would potentially play in the next round before their kick-off.

Their reward for finishing 2nd in the group is a quarter-finals with either Switzerland or Sweden (not to mention possibly Senegal or Japan in the 2nd round).

By finishing 2nd you get to avoid France, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Uruguay until the finals. Heck if the ball bounces the right way, you might have a semi-final opponent of either Denmark or Russia.

There is literally no incentive to win this game for either team.

Wish my brother could see this. I kept telling him this (forgot all the teams in the hard side) but he's insisting Belgium will be battering England. He also thinks Poland is gonna beat Japan
