The knockout tree was messed up because of the "best" teams either getting knocked out or finishing second. There was nothing wrong with the groups themselves.

Yeah, I had to look at that post like . Under the old system, it would have been a real possibility to get a group like Spain, Portugal, Colombia, Mexico while having another group of like Poland, Tunisia, Panama, Saudi Arabia.

The groups were all around balanced for the most part and gave us the best group stages we've ever seen. Blame the "favorites" for not finishing where they were expected to finish for the ko brackets.

As soon as you see the names for all the previous winners ( Stoichkov, Ronaldo, James etc) you can recall the performances from memory. I cant even remember a single Harry Kane goal this World Cup right now.
